Rohrer holds jewelry trunk show over 4 days
Rohrer Fine Art will host a four-day trunk show from Jan. 25 through 28, featuring jewelry by Michael K. Jewels. Designer and goldsmith Michael Kneebone constructs fine jewelry using 18k gold and a diverse array of precious gems, including pearls, diamonds, sapphires, opals, garnets, emeralds and aquamarines.
The theme of the show is “Splendors of the Sea,” and each of the selected pieces incorporates natural objects from the ocean or uses precious materials to imitate marine life.
An ebony bracelet is adorned with a natural branch of red coral from the Mediterranean Sea, along with a sundial sea shell and a group of pearls, diamonds and gold shells.
Another piece consists of a large brooch formed in the shape of a sea urchin. Chinese freshwater stick pearls radiate outward from the central, spiny body of the piece, which was cast from a real sea urchin shell. The top of the piece is crowned with a Mali garnet surrounded by cognac diamonds.
“I like to push the boundaries traditionally associated with jewelry in order to create pieces that will be treasured as works of art,” Kneebone said.
Rohrer Fine Art features a wide variety of global art from the last 2,000 years. The gallery is located at 346 N. Coast Highway, and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call 1-800-949-5211.
