Sage quartet honored
Four Sage Hill School girls’ volleyball players were named All-Academy League by the circuit’s coaches.
Senior setter Kelsey Lawler returned to her familiar position on the first team, wrapping up her four-year varsity career.
Lawler was named first-team all-league last season as well as first-team All-CIF Southern Section in Division IV.
Junior opposite hitter Colleen Heyler was also named first-team all-league.
Senior Kelly Hutchinson and freshman Lindsey Kish, both outside hitters, were second-team all-league honorees.
Lawler was the Lightning’s leader on and off the court, helping the team to the Division IV-A playoffs a year after being key to the Lightning winning the section title.
Lawler had a team-high 44 assists, with seven kills and two aces in Sage Hill’s five-game first-round loss to St. Paul.
Heyler was the main offensive threat, leading the Lightning to a third-place finish in league.
Heyler had a team-high 17 kills in Sage Hill’s playoff match.
Hutchinson and Kish had 10 kills apiece in the Lightning’s playoff match.
Hutchinson was named to the second-team last season and competed on varsity for three years.
Kish was the only freshman on the second team.
Sophomore middle blocker Katherine Bukaty received honorable mention.
