Lightning takes down Kings

The Lightning broke open a tight match against the Kings by scoring seven goals over the final two periods to pull away to a 9-3 victory in Norris Division play at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center.

Andrew Schenker and Karson Derego each scored three goals to lead the Lightning on offense. Grant Kang, Derin Ozturk and Brett Rudy also scored, Nicholas Thompson picked up an assist and Kyler Scott recorded 15 saves.

Blake Walker scored twice for the Kings, Alec Dahl scored a goal, Caden Thompson had an assist and Ethan Higbee stopped 22 shot attempts.

In other Norris Division action:

Breakers 1 3, Dry Ice 2

The Breakers scored all three of their goals in the second period, then held off Dry Ice to net the win.

Braeden Stack, Kyle Hoglund and Nicholas Zapotoczny scored goals, Nolan Strout, Ian Gibbons and Zapotoczny each had an assist and Jesse Mellema finished with 18 saves.

Aaron Maccabi and Keaton Nalle scored for Dry Ice, Aaron Miali and Connor Cudeback had assists and Blake Walker 21 saves.

Flyers 9, Hornets 5

The difference in the match was the second period, where the Flyers outscored the Hornets, 4-0.

Austin Heilman and Ian Bast, Trenton Shehan and Jimmy McLaughlin also scored for the Flyers. Bast also had two assists, Heilman and Leanna Walker each had an assist and Alex McCabe had 19 saves.

Kyle Kowalski led the Hornets with three goals. Cooper Haar had a goal and assist, Casey Rhodes scored once, Ryan Sprague had two assists, Colin Reyes had one assist and Tyler Wilford had 17 saves.

In Campbell Division action:

Devils 4, Breakaways 3

The Devils scored three goals in the final period to overcome the Breakaways.

Peter Skowron scored twice, Matthew Legrand had a goal and assist, Danielle Oliver scored once, Julia Wong had an assist and Nikolas St. Onge finished with 16 saves.

Ryan Bearshear scored twice, Chris Pabitzky once and Josh Valadez had 14 saves for the Breakaways.

HB Psychos 5, Breakers 2 1

The HB Psychos jumped out to a 4-0 lead and went on to defeat the Breakers 2.

Garrett Zolg scored twice, Aaron Cree had a goal and assist, Joseph Loya and Jeff Klimczak each scored once and Cole Kennedy had 12 saves for the Psychos.

John Keegan scored the only goal for the Breakers 2 and Nolan Strout had 25 saves.

Puckenators 8, Surf City Sharks 5

The Puckenators outscored the Sharks, 6-1, in the final period, to rally for the win.

Charley Lowe and Brayden Moore each posted three goals, Bailey Lowe had two goals and an assist, Steven Grubbs had a pair of assists and Kyler Scott recorded 26 saves.

Joshua Wagoner scored twice and had two assists and Amanda Vongries scored twice and had an assist to lead the Sharks. Brandon Ha also scored and Corey Childers had 20 saves.

Fruity Pebbles 5, Hot Wheels 3

Melissa Paniz scored three goals, Derrick Chang had a goal and assist, Matthew Paniz had two assists and Chris Hernandez had 19 saves for Fruity Pebbles.

Kyle Barrett, Jake Gealy and Preston Yamasaki scored goals for the Hot Wheels, Riley Bozanich and Parker Murchison each had an assist and Aaron Maccabi finished with 25 saves.
