USC is coming to play the Anteaters. How can you miss that?

OK, the USC we’re talking about is the University of South Carolina and not that other USC. But that doesn’t mean the men’s basketball game Tuesday night at the Bren Center isn’t a big deal.

South Carolina’s arrival for the 7 p.m. game will mark the first time a team from the Southeastern Conference will play at UC Irvine. South Carolina has won the last two NIT tournaments, but perhaps more notably narrowly lost to last year’s NCAA champion, Florida, in the SEC Tournament final.

The game will be a challenge for UCI, which could use a full and enthusiastic home crowd on its side. So check your calendar. And get out there if you can for the Gamecocks vs. the Anteaters, in what has to be one of the more interesting animal mascot matchups around.
