Soul Surfing Fitness classes begin Monday

The 2006-07 Soul Surfing Fitness programs offered by the Soul Surfing School of Laguna Beach begin Monday with class instruction.

The classes, which run through December, are offered Monday, Wednesday and Saturday each week and run approximately one hour. Morning sessions are from 6 to 7:15 a.m. and 8 to 9:15 a.m. The afternoon class session is from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m.

Classes are typically held in Laguna Beach. Surfing will take place between Oak and Thalia streets, depending on wave conditions.

The cost is a $150 for a monthly membership, which includes up to three surf sessions per week or 12 per month with a professional instructor, unlimited board and wetsuit use, surfing fitness goal tracking and diploma.

The school’s instructors include men and women who are surf team coaches, lifeguards and former World Tour Professionals.

Personal coaching is also offered, tailored to a client’s specific schedule.

Soul Surfing School is a Surfing America charter surf school member. Surfing America is the official amateur and professional sanctioning body in the United States.

Cardio Tennis coming to Laguna Beach

Cardio Tennis — a new, fun group tennis activity that combines tennis with a high-energy cardio-vascular workout that burns calories — is under way in Laguna Beach. The cost for the fall session of Cardio Tennis is $195 for 12 workouts. To register, contact the Laguna Beach Community Services Dept. at (949) 497-0716, ext. 6.

The classes will be held Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Laguna Beach Breakers Junior Team Tennis is looking for new players for its 12-and-Under, 14-and-Under and Co-ed divisions. Competitive junior tennis will be offered in a fun, supportive team atmosphere.
