Redfern, Montage donate to Boys & Girls Club

The Redfern Gallery donated $12,500 to the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach and was matched an even $12,500 by the Hearts of Montage group.

The donations will go to expand opportunities in arts for children and teens.

“Before these two very special gifts were made by Hearts of Montage and Beverly and Ray Redfern of the Redfern Gallery, we had to limit the number of children in some of our art programs due to a restricted budget for art supplies,” Kim Maxwell, executive director for the Boys & Girls Club, said.

“Now, every child at our club who wants to participate in our very popular art programs can.”

Jazzmasters with Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach will sponsor Bruce Forman and his jazz swing band, Cow Bop, for a free concert Aug. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Aliso Creek Inn, 31106 S. Coast Highway.

The performance is to publicize the Jazzmasters mentoring program, a non- profit organization for kids.

A special menu and prices will be available at the dinner before the show.

The band is beginning its California tour with $100 in its pocket and hopes to make its way from San Juan Capistrano to Northern California on earnings from playing. For more information, call (949) 494-2535.
