The Orange County Republican Party on Monday gave early endorsements of candidates in November elections, including three Newport-Mesa City Council members, as part of the party’s expanded involvement in nonpartisan local races. Newport Beach council members Leslie Daigle and Keith Curry and Costa Mesa Mayor Allan Mansoor received endorsements.

Those who were pulled off the early endorsement list by a party central committee member ? including Newport councilman Dick Nichols and Newport-Mesa Unified school board members Tom Egan, Judy Franco and Serene Stokes ? can come back in August to try for an endorsement, as can nonincumbents seeking office.
