Three Costa Mesa residents and 10 Newport Beach residents are chairing important committees for the American Cancer Society Orange County Baron’s Ball, titled “Legends of Hollywood: OC Goes Hollywood to Cure Cancer,” Oct. 21 at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort in Newport Beach.

The Newport chairs for the Baron’s Ball, formerly the Cattle Baron’s Ball, will be Jennifer Thomas, Dianna Munro, Julie Aros, Sharon Esterley, Donna Bianchi, Carol Wilken, Debbie Douglas, Gary Douglas, Bobbitt Williams, Jenny Gerard, Kent Wilken and Ron Rubino.

The Costa Mesa chairs are Kathryn Smith, Phil Brandt and Vivian Dimson.

Corona del Mar resident Travis Pirdy was one of 15 students accepted to the UCLA Film School for this fall.
