Democrats host two council candidates
City Councilwoman Toni Iseman, seeking re-election, and former City Clerk Verna Rollinger ? now vying for a council seat ? will both speak to the Laguna Beach Democratic Club on June 8.
While Rollinger has gotten a quick start on fundraising, Iseman has not done anything yet to finance her re-election bid.
The Democrats will host both at 7:30 p.m. June 8 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 429 Cypress Drive.
“We just want to provide a forum for City Council candidates in our party,” club President Diane Valentino said.
The council race is non-partisan.
Rollinger has held two fundraisers. She reports more than 50 supporters in her $310 Club, named for the former limit on individual donations per election cycle ? it’s been $330 since Jan. 1. The Democratic Club will not actively solicit campaign volunteers at the meeting; information will be available for people who might be interested in participating, Valentino said.
Everyone is welcome.
