GIRLS UNDER-8
White Lightning vs. Yellow Sunflowers: Abigail Klein, Alyssa Anderson, Lauren Kobayashi and Tia DiGiovanni scored goals for the White Lightning. Great defensive plays by Madeleine Francis, Emma Turner and Caitlin Harvey kept the ball out of Lightning territory several times. Makena Martin’s saves in goal made the difference. Coaches Marty Klein and Matt Francis were really pleased with their team’s hard work.
GIRLS UNDER-7
American Girls vs. Blue Bombers: Sabrina DiGiovanni, Rachel Davis, Kelly Kobayashi and Caroline Taketa each scored for the American Girls. Great defensive plays by Isabella Rhee, Raleigh Garner and Kendall Fryer kept the ball out of American Girls territory several times. Coach John DiGiovanni was pleased with the team’s hard work.

BOYS’ UNDER-10
Frozen Flames 5, Grey Sharks 5: The Frozen Flames led, 4-2, at the half, thanks to the defense of Jordan Schmidt and Chris Neito, Kyle Whiteside’s three goals and Gavin Hunn’s breakaway goal. The Grey Sharks found new energy in the second half, scoring three goals to take a 5-4 lead. As the game neared its end, Frozen Flames halfbacks Noah Wyatt and Myles Price worked with wing William Reed to put the pressure back on the Grey Sharks, drawing a penalty kick that Mario Mendez made.

GOLD ALL-STARS
Costa Mesa Predators 1, South Irvine B 0: Midfielders Valeria Martinez, Leslie Alvarran and Zuleyma Guzman helped forward Josefina Hernandez assist a goal passed to Cindy Mejia, who scored at the end of the second quarter. Forwards Shonny McConnell and Lauren Peterson also assisted in some nice plays. The Predators’ teamwork during the entire game and strong defense by Grecia Zarate, Sydney Caffey, Val Hernandez, Brenda Perez and goalie Marisa Flasco kept Irvine scoreless allowing the Predators to win with a 1-0 final score.
GIRLS’ UNDER-10
Costa Mesa 2, Newport Beach 0: Jackie Hubbard scored both goals in the first half. Costa Mesa had strong support and great teamwork from forwards Cristina Tuer, Julyana Bello and Steffani Nava. Marlene Calderon, Cynthia Escalante and Claudia Huerta provided excellent defense, with midfield support from Emily Gruber and Amy Heil. Goalkeepers Elaine Moya and Jayme Krohnfeldt were outstanding.

GIRLS’ UNDER-12 SELECT
Newport 7, South Irvine C 2: Newport raced to a 6-0 lead on goals by Bailey McDaniel (two), Claire Castillo, Courtney McIntosh, Karli Leal and Jenna Castillo. Lauren Clemence added the last goal off a corner kick.
Sophie Evans, Maddie Grant, Holly Patrick and Megan Bathen had assists. Allie Pantoskey and Tatum Norton combined to keep constant pressure on the Irvine goal. Carly Sorensen and Graci Bebeau anchored the defense.
Newport 6, South Irvine A 2: Newport turned in another dominating effort, taking a 5-0 lead at halftime. Goals were scored by Courtney McIntosh, Sophie Evans (two), Lauren Clemence, Tatum Norton and Graci Bebeau. Megan Bathen, Bailey McDaniel and Carly Sorensen had assists.
Madison Grant and Allie Pantoskey kept the ball in the opponents half of the field for much of the game. Claire Castillo controlled the middle of the field and goalkeepers Karli Leal, Megan Bathen and Jenna Castillo were superb in shutting out the opposition until late.
GIRLS’ UNDER-10
E-Lemonators vs. Purple Piranhas: Team captain Cortlynn Clement broke the ice in the first half with a rocket that found the net, with assists going to Cleo Harrington and Ashley Harris. In the second half, “Izzy” Islava broke free and drove the ball past the keeper, with assists going to Vanessa Fleming and Samantha Rossi.
The E-Lemonators showed improved team play with Abby Bullock, Rebekah Foster, Kailen Locke and Hailey Oberst all earning “Sour Power” honors for their outstanding play.
Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. The 7 Up’s: The Chili Peppers’ only goal was scored by Katie Conway, who also played well at goalie. Olivia Muscatello and Kenya Avila played aggressively both as forwards and goalies. Isabel Leveque played relentless midfield and also played a quarter in goal. Samantha Schroff led the defense with support from Emily Garcia, Kara Carlson and Lauren Walker. Rounding out the team was Emma Erickson splitting her time and talent between forward and midfield, along with the always-hustling Madison Miners.
GIRLS’ UNDER-8
Pink Panthers vs. Cheetahs: Despite missing a few players, the Pink Panthers played an outstanding game. Holly Clemence scored the first goal with the assist from Madeleine Kanzler, and Grace Clemence scored the second goal. Peyton Groves was all over the field, Elise Denghausen was the throw-in champ and Allison Conley added good defense.
Green Dragons vs. Lilacs: Julia Ackerman scored the only goal for the Green Dragons. Paula Pedrani and Destry Comp made several charges on goal, with great passing and support from midfielders Siena Amoroso, Yasmine Gomez and Isabel Jeremias. Kathryn Arblaster, Alexia Hipsher, Katrina Heil and Caylee Talbot led the Dragon defense. Heil, Hipsher and Comp each took a turn in goal, allowing one goal.
Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. Green Grapes: Emily Goltz scored the first goal for the Chili Peppers from midfield. Holly Kanen was on fire, scoring the second goal. Ciera D’Alessandro, Oriana Rousseau and Kailynn Thomas-Huynh provided extra offensive spark. In the second half, Paris Pratt scored, while the defense ? led by Abby Scott and Hannah Bodenhamer ? held firm. Tatum McNutt and Lizzi Larson each made key saves in goal for the Chili Peppers.
BOYS’ UNDER-5
Green Monkeys vs. Strikers: Jared Honda, Luke Nataupsky and Matthew Mowery each took turns weaving through the Strikers’ defense with great dribbling. Dayton Smith made booming kicks and cut off many Strikers’ attacks. Tanner Casey put on a dribbling clinic, scoring multiple goals for the Monkeys.
