Authors hold luncheon

Five authors will be featured at the 19th Annual Literary Luncheon, the Festival of Women Authors, presented by the American Association of University Women Laguna Beach Foundation from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at the Surf and Sand Resort, 1555 S. Coast Highway.

The annual event includes a silent auction and opportunity prizes.

Authors Susan Straight (“Highwire Moon” and “A Million Nightingales”); Laura Davick (“Crystal Cove Cottages: Islands in Time on the California Coast”); Marianne Alireza (“At the Drop of A Veil”); Barbara DeMarco-Barrett, (“Pen on Fire: A Busy Woman’s Guide to Igniting the Writer Within”); and Leora Krygier, (“When She Sleeps”).

Among other guests attending will be the Thurston Middle School winners of this year’s Tech Trek Science Camp funded by the foundation.

Tech Trek, established by American Association of University Women California, will be held at five university sites in the state. The Thurston girls will attend Tech Trek camp at UC San Diego.

Proceeds from the luncheon benefit the foundation, which provides fellowships and grants to women for graduate study and research and sponsors charitable programs in the community. In addition to sponsoring the middle-school girls’ science camp, the luncheon benefits elementary school tutoring and high-school scholarships.
