Irvine Co. trust wins environmental honor
Gov. Schwarzenegger gives ecosystem management award to Irvine Ranch Land Reserve Trust.Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger presented an environmental award Tuesday to the Irvine Ranch Land Reserve Trust.
The honor was one of 18 awards issued at the Sacramento headquarters of the California Environmental Protection Agency. The trust was honored in the category of ecosystem and watershed management.
The Newport Beach-based Irvine Co. and the Nature Conservancy of California received the award along with the land reserve trust, according to an Irvine Co. statement.
Irvine Co. chairman Donald Bren announced the formation of the Irvine Ranch Land Reserve Trust in May. The trust is charged with caring for the more than 50,000-acre Irvine Ranch Land Reserve.
