Laguna came away with an upset win over the Blast, the No. 1 seed in the League Cup tournament.

Valencia United entered the match having won the Bronze North Division with a 10-0-1 record and had outscored their opponents 55-4 during regular season play.

Laguna found itself in a 1-0 hole early in the first half when it accidentally put a goal into its own net. Forward Miguel Jaimes brought Laguna into a 1-1 tie when he sliced through several Blast defenders and sent a stunning shot into the upper corner of the net.

With Christian Ochoa stopping several shots by the Blast in the second half, Laguna forward Marc Hughes sent a cross from the corner of the field to forward Brice Manning, who chipped in a shot beyond the reach of the Blast goalie.
