Seventy-six golfers competed in a modified two-ball shamble, with the winning gross team scoring a 136 on the par-72 course. The team consisted of Mark Daly, Dave Bock, Brian Bowen and Greg Solomon.
First place for the net competition went to the foursome of Tom Morris, Jeff Garner, Mike Flamson and Bob Hatfield. The team shot a 131.
But winning the competition wasn’t the highlight for their day:
Hatfield’s hole-in-one on the par-3 second hole was.
“I didn’t even see it,” Hatfield said. “They just kept saying it went in the hole.”
Hatfield followed his ace with a quick run off the tee box before being tackled by one of his partners.
Second place, with a 137.3 net score, was the foursome of Brent Hoffman, Dan MacMillan, Greg Lukosky and Brent Rhylick.
Third place went to the foursome of Rob Forrester, Norm Shane, Larry Hamer and Tod Ridgeway. The group scored a net 139.8.
Rich Simons won the putting contest. The longest drive was hit by Ron Benedict. The straightest drive off the club belonged to Brian Wegener.
Closest to the pin on the par-3 11th hole was Brian Bowen.
And Hatfield, of course, was the hands-down winner for closest to the pin on the second hole.
