City Council should approve Poseidon
I voted for Don Hansen as a City Council member to represent our city
and make leadership decisions for Huntington Beach as a whole.
That is why I commend him not only for keeping the residents in
southeast Huntington Beach in mind when making his decision to
certify the desalination facility’s environmental report, but also
for keeping the rest of Huntington Beach in consideration.
I also commend the majority of members on the City Council for
making the right decision in approving Poseidon’s environmental
impact report.
Because of their decision, we are one step closer to avoiding a
public agency coming into our city and building a plant without
taking into account the wellbeing of our city.
In addition, their forward thinking brings us another step closer
to being prepared for catastrophic events, such as major earthquakes,
that could endanger our current water supply.
Because this company will bring so many benefits to Huntington
Beach, our city representatives should certify the conditional use
permit at Monday’s hearing.
