Slide families in need of construction help
Help is needed this weekend in efforts to relocate two of the four
families displaced by the June 1 landslide into mobile homes on
private property at the corner of Laguna Canyon Road and Canyon
Acres, according to Mayor Elizabeth Pearson-Schneider.
People with construction skills -- even rudimentary -- are needed
to help build skirting around the trailers, stairs and decks or
landings. The additions will also need to be painted, and carpet must
be installed in the trailers.
Two of the families have children in local schools and need to
move into their new homes as soon as possible.
“Once these families are settled in, we’re going to turn our
attention to the other landslide families and see what their needs
are,” said Anne Johnson, co-chairperson of Adopt-a-Landslide Family.
There is also a need for people to give breakfast snacks and lunch
to 20 to 40 people working at the site.
The work will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
