Teen theater company seeks new members

The Generation GAP, Gallimaufry Performing Arts’ self-producing

teen theater company, will be interviewing and accepting new members.

The all-teen theater company produces, directs, designs and

performs its own musicals and plays. Project management and

fundraising is also done by the youths.

Steve Josephson, Gallimaufry Performing Arts artistic director,

founded the youth theater company in 2003. Its purpose is to provide

local youth experience to learn all aspects of theater.

Teens ages 12 to 18 who are interested in performance, production,

directing, music, set design, lighting design, choreography,

producing and more are encouraged to apply.

Members meet weekly. No prior experience required. This program is

offered free to the participants. Interviews will be from noon to 2

p.m. Oct. 15. Information: (949) 813-5974 or [email protected].

Free tutoring for local students

For the fourth year in a row, AAUW and First Team Nolan Realty

have partnered to provide one-on-one tutoring to students at El Morro

Elementary School. With a grant from First Team Nolan, AAUW

administers “The Learning Club,” an after-school tutoring program for

students in grades one through five.

Volunteers from AAUW and the community work individually with

students two afternoons a week, providing help with math, reading

comprehension, spelling and homework completion. To volunteer, call

Peggie Thomas, (949) 499-1817, [email protected]; or Pat

Jamieson, (949) 497-4792, [email protected].
