FileNet buys Canadian software company

FileNet Corp., a Costa Mesa business software company, announced

Sept. 19 that it has made a deal to purchase Yaletown Technology

Group Inc. Yaletown, based in Vancouver, Canada, makes software

designed to aid businesses in their compliance with regulatory

requirements.

FileNet announced plans to integrate Yaletown software into its

own product line. FileNet stated it paid about $11 million in cash

for all of Yaletown’s stock. FileNet expects the buy to close in

early October.

Ceradyne receives orders for body order

Costa Mesa’s Ceradyne Inc. announced Tuesday that the firm had

received orders for ceramic body armor worth $14.6 million. The

orders were placed for elite U.S. military troops, including the U.S.

Marine Corps.

Ceradyne expects to ship the armor from October through August

2006, according to a company statement.

Online brokerage opens office in Newport Beach

Scottrade Inc., an online stock brokerage, has announced it plans

to open an office in Newport Beach today.

A company statement listed the office’s address as 1280 Bison St.,

suite B-2.

The announcement stated Mark Kreyche will be the office’s manager.

Scottrade is headquartered in St. Louis.
