o7Here are some items the commission will consider Monday.

AUTO SALES LOT

Robins Properties, which owns Theodore Robins Ford, wants to sell

and store cars on a lot at 2059 Harbor Blvd., next to the current

Robins operation. The business’ owners have applied for the required

permit but want a one-year extension because the property must be

cleaned up before they can purchase it.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The commission is likely to approve the extension because the

property is now vacant and contaminated; allowing the new business

use will require it to be cleaned up.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING

If the commission approves, property owner John Geyer can build a

new 2,500-square-foot commercial building at 2314 Newport Blvd., next

to Surround Sound, a custom audio installation business. The plans

are allowed by current zoning and were approved by planning

department staff, but Surround Sound’s owner, Glenford Dwyer,

appealed to the commission.

Dwyer believes the new building will cause a traffic hazard and

diminish his business because his facility will be harder for

customers to see when the new building is constructed.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Planning department staff recommend rejecting the appeal.
