Three plead not guilty of murder
A Long Beach man who will stand trial with his wife and another man
accused of the murder of a Newport Beach couple pleaded not guilty
Friday to charges that he murdered an Anaheim man.
Skylar Deleon, 26, his wife Jennifer Henderson-Deleon, 24, and
Deleon’s cousin Michael Lewis Jr., 24, of Arizona are charged with
the murder of 45-year-old John Jarvi.
The Deleons are already in custody and awaiting trial. They’re
charged with the murders of Tom and Jackie Hawks, a retired Newport
Beach couple who police believe were handcuffed to the anchor of
their yacht and thrown overboard in November.
Their bodies have not been found.
Charges allege that Skylar Deleon murdered Jarvi for financial
gain. Jarvi was found in Mexico with his throat slashed in December
2003.
Deleon and Jarvi met while they were serving time in a
work-release program at the Seal Beach Jail in December 2003.
