Top of the World elects new board
Top of the World Neighborhood Assn. elected a new board of directors
Monday at the group’s general meeting.
New to the board is Sonia Campbell. Board members reelected were
Chris Brazelton, Dave Connell, Michelle Falkowski, Gene Felder, Les
Miklosy, John Robinson, Gary Schwager, Karen Schwager, Margot
Seeholzer, Paul Tackabury, Todd Thornton, Piero Wemyss, Carolyn Wood
and Scott Woodard.
The evening’s highlight was a presentation by Laguna Beach Fire
Department Battalion Chief Kris Head on how residents can make
defensible space and fuel modification zones on their individual
properties.
Fire Chief Mike Macey was on hand to make additional comments and
answer questions. Fire prevention information is online at the city’s

John Robinson presented the Alta Laguna Boulevard median concept;
Dave Connell spoke on excess nonnative vegetation; and Gary Schwager
gave an overview of the association’s efforts to preserve public
views around Alta Laguna Park.
President Piero Wemyss thanked Todd Thornton and Frank Tully, who
are leaving the board. Thornton served on the board for eight years
as treasurer and was involved in fighting the proposed commercial
airport at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.
The group will sponsor a pot-luck neighborhood picnic at 3 p.m.
Sept. 25 at Alta Laguna Park.
