UCI’s Edick an alternate

UC Irvine junior Brian Edick tied for third, but lost in a playoff at

the U.S. Amateur sectional qualifying at the Bear Creek Golf Club in

Murrietta on Thursday.

Edick shot a 3-over 147 (72-75), but lost in a playoff with Ed

Cuff of Rancho Sante Fe and is the first alternate from the Bear

Creek sectional. All sectional qualifying must be completed before

alternates are chosen for the field at the U.S. Amateur, which will

be held Aug. 22-28 at the Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa.

UCI senior Jay Choe finished tied for 38th with a 154 (73-81) in

his sectional qualifying at the Western Hills Golf and Country Club.
