Renowned Russian quintet to perform

As part of the Newport Beach Arts Commission Concerts in the Park

series, the Russian National Orchestra’s Wind Quintet is scheduled to

perform at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Corona del Mar’s Grant Howald Park.

Sergei Markov, the orchestra’s chief executive officer, will join

the quintet on stage to narrate “Wolf Tracks,” a contemporary update

to the classic tale of “Peter and the Wolf.”

The Russian National Orchestra’s recording featuring “Peter and

the Wolf” and “Wolf Tracks” has earned the group a Grammy.

This free outdoor performance marks the first in Southern

California by the Russian National Orchestra. For more information,

Beach party tickets go on sale Oct. 2

The Newport Beach Centennial Committee is scheduled to begin

selling tickets Monday to the Oct. 2 Let’s Do Launch beach party.

The Beach Boys have been booked to perform at the event, which is set

to open a yearlong celebration of Newport Beach’s 100th anniversary.

Ticket prices are set at $15 per person. Children younger than 3 will

be admitted free. Tickets can be purchased from the Newport Beach

Recreation Department at City Hall, Oasis Senior Center and on the

Internet at www.newportbeach100.com.
