Brett Perrine, a Newport Harbor High senior outside hitter headed for

UCLA in the fall, was named the Sea View League Most Valuable Player

by the circuit’s coaches. Joining Perrine as first-team all-league

selections are outside hitter Brett Auer and setter Ted Slater.

Middle blocker Parker Stevens and defensive specialist Brad Schneider

were named second-team all-league.

Perrine helped the Sailors to their second straight undefeated

league title and a run into the CIF Southern Section Division I

quarterfinals.

The 6-foot-6 Perrine was named Newport-Mesa Player of the Year.

Slater, a 6-4 junior, was a second-team all-league selection last

year as a middle blocker. He was named to the Newport-Mesa Dream

Team.

Coached by Dan Glenn, Newport Harbor concluded the year winning

six straight matches and 11 of 13 to finish the season 20-12.

Top-seeded Loyola defeated Newport in the quarterfinals.
