Eagles’ coaches move on

Estancia High’s baseball and boys track and field teams are seeking

coaches following the resignations of Jon Green and Dominic Lakey.

Lakey, who helped lead the Eagles to a 6-0 record in Golden West

League dual meets and a league co-championship with Santa Ana in his

first season last spring, resigned to take a teaching position closer

to his home in Long Beach, Estancia Boys Athletic Director Tim Parsel

said.

Green’s departure was a “mutual decision,” Parsel said. Green, who

led the Eagles for the last three seasons, Parsel and Sean Boulton,

the school’s vice president in charge of athletics, held a meeting

late last month.

“We decided there were some things we weren’t happy with and

things [Green] wasn’t happy with,” Parsel said. “One of the main

problems was keeping track of finances, with uniforms and equipment,

and [Green] agreed. It’s not about the X’s and O’s as much as

peripheral things on campus.”

Parsel said he would prefer the next coach to teach on campus.

Green was a walk-on.

“It’s tough because the [baseball] team was heading in the right

direction,” Parsel said. “The field looks great. They worked hard on

it.”

Three Estancia teams are searching for coaches after boys

volleyball coach Tracey Ingraham resigned earlier this week.

Interested applicants should contact Parsel at (949) 515-6558.

There may be teaching positions open.
