Landscape architect to be honored as Woman of 2005
Ann Christoph, former planning commissioner, council member and mayor
of Laguna Beach, is the Woman’s Club’s 2005 Woman of the Year. She
will be honored at the annual Woman of the Year luncheon, to be held
at the clubhouse, 286 St. Ann’s Drive, at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 3.
The public is invited to attend.
According to Peggy Ford, the group’s president, “Ann epitomizes
the Club’s mission to enhance the lives of others in our community
through volunteer service.” For many years and in many ways, Ann has
worked to preserve the village quality of life in Laguna Beach. She
helped formulate the pre-annexation general plan for South Laguna,
was instrumental in producing the city’s landscape and scenic
highways resource document, served on the 1993 Design Review Board
Task Force and participated in Vision Laguna 2000.
Her accomplishments as a professional landscape architect include
the master plan for the Woman’s Club, Bluebird Park refurbishment,
South Laguna Village Green and the design for Coast Highway medians
in Laguna Beach. She is active in a number of community
organizations, including the South Laguna Civic Association and
Village Laguna, and writes a bi-weekly column, “Village Matters,” for
the Laguna Beach Independent.
The luncheon on June 3 will be catered by Tivoli Too!, and Carol
Reynolds will perform at the piano. Tickets are $25, payable in
advance, or at the door if seats are available. Reservations are
advised; call (949) 497-1200.
