Skosh Monahan’s 10, Newport Auto Center 7: Skosh Monahan’s
assembled a six-run fifth inning to pull ahead and defeat Newport
Auto Center, 10-7, in the Newport Harbor Baseball Association Bronco
division playoff championship Sunday at Bonita Canyon Sports Park.
Newport Auto Center jumped on top early with a four-run first
inning fueled by singles from Matt Mello, Brett Parker and Hamilton
Randle. Newport added two more runs in the second inning with a
single by Matt Porteous and a double by Mello.
But Skosh mounted a fifth-inning attack sparked by singles from
Maxson Richley, Addison MacLaren, Charlie Massingill and Jack Kanen.
Matt Bancroft, Connor Lomenzo, Richley and Hayden Cornwell pitched
a combined 12 strikeouts in seven innings for Skosh, while Austin
Rios, Zack Beaudin, Dillon Gillette, Brett Parker and Porteous
pitched for Newport.
Sterling BMW 9, RBC Dain 3: Sterling BMW defeated RBC Dain, 9-3,
in the opening round of the playoffs to advance. Sterling was led by
Charles Coakley and Aaron White with three hits apiece. AJ Swies and
Trevor Lawrence contributed two hits.
RBC Dain was led offensively by Max Gerrard, Brice Manning and
Nathan Eon.
Sterling BMW 11, Arches 5: Sterling BMW defeated Arches, 11-5, to
advance to the semifinal playoff game. Angelo Angelides, Trevor
Lawrence, AJ Swies and Jason Wooding all had multiple-hit games while
Kevin Bee, Jaime Davis and Scott Felder also made offensive
contributions. The Arches were led by Nelson Simons, Christian Ochoa
and Garrett Kerr.
Pitching for Sterling were Wooding, Jordan Desguin and Charles
Coakley while Garrett Kerr, Blake Bell, Ochoa and Zack Porteous
pitched for the Arches.
Mustang
Creative Play 11, Pres Co. 5: Creative Play received solid
pitching from Nick Viera, Sean Cox and Josue Rivera in their 11-5
playoff victory over Pres Co. Taylor Parks, Sean Perrier, Zach
Cornwell and Griff Amies keyed the defense for Creative while Taylor
Parks, Nick Viera and Charlie Gels each scored two runs. Cox
contributed a bases-clearing triple and Jack Maurer contributed a
two-run double. Kory Kroeger and Blake Pender sparked Pres.
Shetland
Mets, Reds: The Mets ended their season with key hits from Jack
McClintock, Kyle Haidl, Nathaniel Dodge and Kevin Palmer. Barron
Campbell, Nicholas Finfrock, Alex Michaelsen, Spencer Neal and Sam
Wertheimer led the defense, while Mason Lindh and Slater Plant led
the Reds.
Newport Beach Little League
AA
Cardinals 9, Dodgers 4: Ben Banning and Jake Hastings pitched
three innings apiece, each notching five strikeouts to lead the
Cardinals past the Dodgers, 9-4, in a Newport Beach Little League AA
division playoff baseball game Saturday.
Banning held the Dodgers scoreless while Hastings only walked one
of 19 batters he faced. The Cardinals hitting attack was led by Jared
Daniels, Kaden Ebbinga, Banning and Hastings. Eight players scored
runs, including Ricky Luerhs, Colin Baker, Nick Adams, Sterling Beall
and Kevin Spitzer. Catcher Matt Elmajian made some key stops for the
Cardinals’ defense.
The Dodgers were led offensively by Alex Wilde (3 for 3) and J.B.
Lee (2 for 2).
Padres 15, Dodgers 7: The Padres scored 15 runs on 11 hits,
including two home runs by Parker Reposa and another by Braden Brahs,
in a 15-7 victory over the Dodgers. Other hits were tallied by Cole
Friedman, Christopher Beyrooty, Nate Pozin, Jeff Johnston, and Matt
Hurst. The pitching was shared by Gunnar Logan, Charlie Griffin, and
Brahs, who combined for 10 strikeouts with six hits. James Barrett
and Conner Kelter continued their solid work at catcher while A.J.
Sanchez and Johnston came up with two key defensive plays to end the
game.

Girls under-10
Dirty Dozen 6, Battitude 4: The Dirty Dozen finished its season
20-0 after a 6-4 win over Battitude Sunday at Bonita Creek Park.
Hattie Marshall and Madison Camarillo came through with solid
pitching for the Dirty Dozen. Caroline Graham, Kourtney Chadderon,
Samantha Colvin, Katie Groke, Kathryn Pridemore, Lauren Willard and
Cassie Stevenson keyed Dozen’s defense.
Delaney Owen and Illene Umansky led Battitude.
