Three arrested in paintball shooting

Three people were arrested after a woman was shot in the throat

with a paintball gun Monday night, police said.

Mary Madrid, 25, of Stanton, called the police and told them she

had been shot at 11:30 p.m. at Pacific Coast Highway and 6th Street,

police said. Madrid told police that the vehicle from which the shots

had been fired, a blue 1997 Suburban, was headed northbound on

Brookhurst Street, police said.

Police officers stopped the Suburban near Seal Beach Boulevard and

the 405, police said. Police found three people in the vehicle, along

with a paintball gun, police said.

Robert Daniel Mauna, 19, of Long Beach, Jeffrey Dale Tompkins, 19,

of Buena Park, and a juvenile from Seal Beach were arrested, police

said.

Madrid sustained a large bruise at the center of her throat and

was treated and released at the scene by paramedics, police said.

Police are not aware of any additional victims. Anyone with

information about this incident or any other similar incidents is

encouraged to contact the Huntington Beach Police Department at (714)
