Police arrest assault suspect
Police arrested a Costa Mesa man in connection with the stabbing
Monday of a man in Newport Coast.
Newport Beach police were called to a home in the 100 block of
Catania at about 4:30 p.m. on a reported assault with a deadly
weapon, Sgt. Steve Shulman said. When they got to the home, they
found that a 29-year-old Newport Beach man had been stabbed, Shulman
said.
Police have not identified the victim, who was taken to Hoag
Hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, Shulman said.
People at the home gave police a description of the suspect, who
they said fled the home. Officers broadcast the license number of a
Ford F-150 driven by the suspect, who apparently knew the victim,
Shulman said.
Costa Mesa police found the truck a few hours later in front of a
home in the 2900 block of Croftdon Street, he said.
Alton Christopher Aloe, 30, of Costa Mesa was arrested without
incident on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Shulman said.
Aloe is being held in the Orange County Jail. He is ineligible for
the $25,000 bail because of a parole violation.
