Getting 13 hits from an offensive attack that was primed and ready,

the Red Sox went on to record a 10-2 victory over the Cubs in Seaview

Little League Majors Division action.

Jordan Sobelman slugged a two-run triple in the first inning and

Jonathan Steele collected three hits, which included a two-run

double. Jacob Rushing tripled among his two hits, Matt Kibby went

three for three and Matt Thiede singled twice.

Rushing got the pitching win, striking out 11 in a four-inning

performance.

The Cubs’ Chase Leamer doubled and Layne Chandler and Ryan Ortolf

each singled. Leamer also pitched three innings, recording five

strikeouts.

In other Majors Division action:

Yankees 9, Angels 5

Ruben Munoz struck out nine and was backed by a potent offense as

the Yankees downed the Angels.

Munoz aided his own cause with a triple and Kyle Curtis had a pair

of hits, which included an RBI triple. Allon Rhoten had an RBI double

and a single, Brandon Hastings had two hits and two RBIs, Adam Munoz

and Trevor Becker each had two hits and Shaun Thompson had a two-run

single.

Aaron Rakhshani had an RBI single and Charlie Miller and Nick

Plunkett each had singles for the Halos.

At Ocean View Little League:

Minor A Division

Red Sox 16, Angels 1

The Red Sox ran their record to 2-0 by defeating the Angels.

A dominating pitching effort keyed the Red Sox. Tyler Hammock

started the game and pitched three innings, striking out nine. David

Feirstein pitched a scoreless fourth inning, striking out three, and

T.J. Carlson earned the save by pitching the final two innings,

striking out five.

The Red Sox offense was led by Zack Gates, who hit a three-run

home run and singled. Feirstein scored three runs and Dee Atwood,

Trevor Braff, Conner Cassatta, Joey Blood and Jacob Potter each

scored twice.

Dodgers 11, A’s 2

The Dodgers won their season opener as Luke Fell struck out eight

of the first nine batters he faced.

Fell also recorded two hits, a walk and scored twice offensively.

Christopher Smith relieved Fell in the fourth inning, and went on to

strike out three in his debut.

Smith also had a hit, a walk and scored two runs.

Brent Cole sparked a four-run third inning with a walk, a stolen

base and scored a run.

Matthew Mulholland and Jake Poss each contributed to the offense

by doubling home runs in the third and fourth innings.
