Memorial set for Parker
LORRAINE R. PARKER
Lorraine R. Parker, formerly of Laguna Beach, died Saturday, Feb.
19 at the age of 83.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 26, 1921, the oldest of two children.
In 1947, she married and moved to Pasadena. In 1961 she moved to
Laguna Beach, where she raised her three children and worked for the
Hotel Laguna and the finance department for the city of Laguna Beach.
She is credited with creating the design of the Laguna Beach city
bus.
Mrs. Parker was a parishioner of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church
in Laguna Beach and the Mission Church in San Juan Capistrano.
In 1993, after heart surgery, she moved to Maine to live with her
daughter, Kathy. There she volunteered at Maine General Medical
Center making hand embroidered faces on dolls that are passed out to
patients.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 407 and the
Red Hat Society, Lupine Ladies.
She is survived by her daughters Sally and Kathy; son, Spelts
“Sparky” Parker, Jr; grandson Michael; and brother, James Hodonicky
of Woodridge, Illinois.
Friends and family are invited to join a memorial service at
Heisler Park on the green overlooking the ocean in Laguna Beach,
Friday, March 11 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Mission
Hospital Cardiology Program, 27700 Medical Center Road, Mission
Viejo, California 92691-6426.
