Symphony to play sounds of Mozart

Orange County’s Pacific Symphony is kicking off its first-ever

Mozart Festival on Sunday.

The weeklong event is a celebration of some of Wolfgang Amadeus

Mozart’s final chamber music and chamber orchestra settings.

The festival begins at 3 p.m. Sunday with a Chamber Orchestra

concert at The Barclay Theatre in Irvine. It concludes March 13 at

the Orange County Performing Arts Center Founders Hall with the “Cafe

Ludwig” Chamber Music concert.

Tickets for the March 13 concert are $60 and can be purchased

through the Pacific Symphony Ticket Office at (714) 755-5799 or by

visiting the Symphony’s website at www.pacificsymphony.org.

Hall of Fame runner behind Spirit Run

UC Irvine Hall of Fame honoree Steve Scott will serve as the

honorary race director for the 22nd Annual Blue Cross of California

Spirit Run to be held March 13, starting at Fashion Island.

Scott, a three-time United States Olympic team member, was the top

American, 1,500-meter runner from 1977 to 1988. Twenty-two years ago,

parents of the Newport Mesa Unified School District organized the

race to raise funds for the district’s elementary schools

The event begins with the ASICS 10K, followed by the Jamba Juice

Bananaman 5K Run and Family Walk.
