Local dog tops at show

A local Dalmatian was judged best of breed at the prestigious

Westminster Kennel Club dog show this month in New York City.

Ch. Quiksilver’s Rhythm And Blues, known familiarly as Cosby, is

owned by Jim and Barbara Lyons of Emerald Bay.

Cosby competes in the nonsporting class.

The dog -- as male canines are known in dog circles -- comes from

championship stock. His sire is Ch. Smithforged So. St. Road Ready.

His dam is Ch. Quiksilver’s Little Deuce Coupe, also owned by the

Lyons.

Cosby made his mark at the sold-out 129th Westminster Kennel Club

show. It is the second oldest sporting event in the country, next to

the Kentucky Derby.
