“It’s not nearly as cold as D.C.”

- Scott Belodeau, a former Newport Beach resident visiting from

Washington, D.C., of the chilly weather as things warmed up slightly

on Tuesday.

“I grew up with four sisters, a baby brother and a ton of cousins.

And every Thanksgiving, we’d have the whole family together. It’s

always a big deal back home”

- 25-year-old Cpl. J’son Townes of Tulsa, Okla.

“I’d say we’re optimistic about the holiday season, just because

year-to-date sales are up and strong. We expect these trends to

continue through the holiday season”

- Fashion Island marketing director Laura Davis said of the

holiday season.

“[Robin Clauson’s] been with the city a long, long time. The city

will have continuity with a caring person, who has the experience and

who has done a great job over the years. It’s her reward for doing a

good job” - Dolores Otting, who ran for city council in November, of

the possibility of Clauson taking over as Newport Beach city

attorney.

“The most intimidating thing for me when I took over was not that

I was afraid to follow those guys up ... it was being a part of

something that has been around for more than a century”

- Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart said.

“We retired a while ago. But this is a labor of love. When you

have the ability, why not use it? For me and my wife, it’s a great

way to pay back the community for all the wonderful years we’ve had

in Costa Mesa”

- Ed Carmona, who cooks the annual day-before-Thanksgiving feast

at the Costa Mesa Senior Center.
