1. Laguna Beach is a better place...
1. Laguna Beach is a better place now than it was four years ago. I
bring a proven record of accomplishment to the voters of Laguna
Beach. Please check that record at my website, https://www.LoveLaguna
Beach.com.
I am proud that I have run a positive campaign, based on my record
and my plans for our city. I am opposed to, and have not engaged in
negative campaigning in any form.
2. The single most critical issue facing Laguna Beach is the
potential loss of our four-star rated hospital, South Coast Medical
Center.
I am leading the fight to save the hospital. I will continue to
use every resource at my disposal to assure that South Coast Medical
Center will stay in Laguna Beach.
3. Parking and circulation cannot be separated -- they are the two
parts of a problem affecting residents, businesses and tourists
alike. I support the solution suggested by the experts: Put parking
where people want to park. This will minimize the number of people
driving around looking for parking spaces.
In Laguna, that parking is Downtown at the Village Entrance. My
plan, supported by local businesses and the arts community, provides
50% more Downtown parking than the plans of my opponents. My plan
provides parking relief for our impacted neighborhoods.
4. Six years ago, we had massive flooding Downtown. Three years
ago, we had a wonderful opportunity to solve this problem using $8
million supplied by the county of Orange and the Army Corps of
Engineers. For some reason, the other council members chose, at the
last minute, to reject this offer in favor of unspecified
“alternatives.” We are still waiting for those alternatives to
surface, our Downtown is still vulnerable to flooding, and the county
has given the $8 million to other cities.
5. The city of Laguna Beach has made low income housing a
priority. This year we completed a 27 unit low-income housing project
at Alice Court. We will continue to look for opportunities to build
similar projects.
