Lighting ceremony for tree coming in a month

The annual tree-lighting ceremony at South Coast Plaza is coming

at the end of November.

A 90-foot-high white fir holiday tree is scheduled to be planted

today in Town Center Park, near the intersection of Bristol Street

and Anton Boulevard.

After the tree is adorned with 15,000 colored lights, the 22nd

annual lighting event will be at 6 p.m. on Nov. 29.

The tree will arrive after a 650-mile journey from the Mt. Shasta

area in Northern California. A 200-ton crane will lift the tree into

position between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. today.
