UCI’s Midnight Magic Friday
The UC Irvine men’s and women’s basketball teams will be previewed
Friday night with the annual Midnight Magic festivities at the Bren
Events Center.
A party at the Berry Terrace on the north side of the Bren Center
will open festivities at 10:30 p.m. with free food from El Pollo Loco
to the first 500 fans. This will be the first chance for students to
sign up to join the “Completely Insane Anteaters” booster group.
The doors to the basketball arena will open at 11:30 and, at
midnight, the men’s and women’s players and coaches will be
introduced.
Activities will include a slam-dunk contest, a three-point
shootout between the men’s and women’s teams, and scrimmages.
Coach Pat Douglass’ men’s team opens its 2004-05 schedule hosting
Simon Fraser University of British Columbia in an exhibition game
Nov. 6 in the Bren Center at 7 p.m.
The Anteaters’ return starters are junior guard Jeff Gloger, who
averaged 9.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season, junior
guard Ross Schraeder (7.9 ppg), and senior post player Greg Ethington
(6.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg).
Coach Mark Adams’ women host Love ‘n’ Basketball in an exhibition
contest Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
Returning starters for UCI are senior guard Courtney Ferguson (7.9
ppg and senior center Ashley Biggins (3.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg).
Friday’s event will include a live Internet feed available at
www.anteaters.tv and will be archived at that site for later viewing.
