Nearly 30 current or former professional athletes along with

entertainment and sports celebrities are scheduled to play in the

first Carson Palmer Open, which will benefit Hillview Acres

Children’s Home, at Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Coast Monday.

Newport Beach firm Athletes First is hosting the event that

includes current NFL players Carson Palmer, Rudi Johnson and Chad

Johnson -- all of the Cincinnati Bengals -- along with A.J. Feeley

(Miami Dolphins) and Donnie Edwards (San Diego Chargers). More than

150 Orange County business and community leaders are also scheduled

to play.

Hall of Fame offensive lineman Ron Yary (USC), along with former

All-Pro center Rich Saul of the Los Angeles Rams, Rob Mariano and

Amber Brkich, both of the hit television show “Survivor,” are also

scheduled to play.

Hillview Acres, located in Chino Hills, is a residential treatment

center offering programs for young victims of severe abuse and

neglect ranging in age from 6 to 16.

Registration and a pre-round putting practice both begin at 10:30

a.m. followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start on the North course.

A dinner titled “Carson’s Cookout” and a silent auction both

follow play at 6:30 p.m.

Palmer, a quarterback who won the Heisman Trophy in 2002, will

host the evening’s program that starts at 7. Ron Storm, chief

executive officer of Hillview Acres, will speak.
