TODAY

“The Miracle Worker” will be presented by the Academy of the

Performing Arts. The play tells the story of deaf, blind and mute

12-year-old Helen Keller and her teacher, Annie Sullivan. The 7:30

p.m. play will be performed at Huntington Beach High School, 1905

Main St. The play will be performed through May 2. The May 2 show is

scheduled for 2:30 p.m. General admission tickets will cost $9, and

A Chinese Brush Painting Show will be held at the Huntington

Beach Central Library Corner Gallery. Gallery hours vary daily, call

Bill Word’s Killer Komedy will be hosted every Thursday by Martini

FRIDAY

“The Dining Room,” a play written by A. R. Gurney and directed by

Jack Messenger. This “dramedy” will be performed through May 9 by the

Huntington Beach Playhouse at the Central Library Theater, 7111

SATURDAY

The Great Earth Walk will be an event to raise money for

environmental organizations. A three-mile walk through the Bolsa

Chica Wetlands and a six-mile hike to Huntington Beach Pier are

scheduled. Participants will be asked to collect pledges, and

donations will be accepted. Both walks are scheduled for 8 to 11 a.m.

Participants in the pier walk will meet in the parking lot at the

corner of Bushard and Brookhurst streets. Participants in the Bolsa

Chica walk will meet in the parking lot at the Bolsa Chica Visitors

Center at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Warner

SUNDAY

The Huntington Beach Art League will sponsor its 10th annual Open Juried Show. Entry dates will be April 30 and May 1. Artwork will be

open for public viewing through May 28. The show will be held in the

Open mike night will be hosted every Tuesday by Martini Blues. The

Huntington Beach Senior Services will offer dancing lessons from

2 to 3 p.m. at the Michael E. Rodgers Seniors’ Center. The lessons

are structured in five-week sessions at a cost of $65 per dancer.

An art demonstration by Gene Turner will focus on pencil
