Charity event to offer winner a pricey car

Fletcher Jones Motorcars plans to donate one of its most popular

cars on Wednesday in an effort to raise at least $100,000 for the

March of Dimes.

At 7:30 a.m. Wednesday some of the most influential business

leaders in Orange County will have the chance to take home a new,

215-horsepower, 2004 Mercedes CLK Cabriolet -- valued at more than

$50,000, officials said.

The car will be auctioned at the Orange County March of Dimes

Leaders Breakfast being held at the Balboa Bay Club. The fundraiser

will be emceed by television anchor Ed Arnold and is expected to

attract more than 300 people.

Fletcher Jones and partnering Mercedes-Benz USA hope to raise more

than $100,000 for the March of Dimes, an organization that gives aid

to infants with birth defects.

Tickets for the breakfast are $250 a person and can be purchased

by calling (949) 305-5262.

Two more attorneys come to Newport Beach

A Newport Beach-based firm has added two more attorneys to its

roster as part of its ongoing expansion.

Newmeyer & Dillion LLP hired Leonard Polyakov and Carol Sherman

Zaist as litigation associates at the Newport Beach office, bringing

the new total of lawyers to 45 in two offices -- the other is in

Santa Monica. The firm, which was established in 1984, is now the fifth largest Orange County-based firm.

Polyakov is an expert in business, construction and insurance

litigation, and has represented clients in complex matters such as

trade secret disputes, unfair trade practices and business tort

cases.

Zaist concentrates her practice on business litigation and

construction disputes, including contract disputes, business and

property torts and trade secret suits -- both federal and state.

Water district board member moves on up

The Mesa Consolidated Water District board of directors announced

that agency Director Trudy Ohlig-Hall has been elected vice

chairwoman of the Assn. of California Water Agencies for Orange and

San Diego counties and will serve on its state board of directors.
