Alcohol may have contributed to crash

A 24-year-old Newport Beach man was arrested Thursday night on

suspicion of drunken driving after an accident near the corner of

Bison Avenue and Jamboree Road that resulted in four people being

taken to local hospitals.

Justin Ford was booked on suspicion of felony drunken driving

after his blue 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck collided with a silver

Honda Odyssey minivan near the intersection, sending his truck over

the side of the road and up against a tree, Newport Beach Police Sgt.

Steve Shulman said.

Fire and paramedic officials responded to the accident and had to

use rescue equipment to extract one of the two passengers from the

truck, Fire Department Spokeswoman Donna Boston said.

The passengers are 14- and 16-year-old brothers, and Shulman said

one of the boys suffered a broken nose.

The driver of the minivan, a 27-year-old woman from Santa Ana

Heights, was admitted to Western Medical Center for evaluation and

released Friday, Shulman said.

Ford complained of pain and was taken to Hoag Hospital. He was

later released and taken into custody, Shulman said. He is in Newport

Beach city jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
