UC Irvine senior forward Christina Callaway was named Big West

Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball after averaging

18.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game last week, while UCI senior

women’s water polo goalkeeper Sunceray Chamblee has been named

Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week for her

performances against San Diego State and Hawaii.

Callaway led UCI to a win over UC Riverside, recording her seventh

double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. In the two games last

week versus Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside, she shot a combined

16 of 29 (.552) from the floor, including .588 (10-17) in the second

halves when she scored 23 of her 37 points. It is her third career

Player of the Week honor.

Chamblee had nine saves in the loss to the fifth-ranked Aztecs

last Thursday and six saves in UCI’s win over No. 8 Hawaii Saturday.

Chamblee is the third Anteater to ever win the award and the first

since the 2002 season.
