An extreme neighborhood
For one Costa Mesa family, this Valentine’s and Presidents’ Day
weekend also resembles Christmas and birthdays and, eventually, will
seem like Thanksgiving.
As the four-member, for now, family -- mom, dad, two kids and
triplets on the way -- is enjoying a vacation in Arizona, members of
the ABC program, “Extreme Makeover, Home Edition,” are gutting and
then redoing their Rosemary Place home. When the family returns,
there should be plenty of room for the next three family members plus
unexpected touches that put the “extreme” into the show’s title.
It’s a story with all the hallmarks of a happy ending and “feel
good” theme, not the least because all the family’s neighbors had to
OK the work, which will be going on nearly 24 hours a day this week.
As anyone who’s lived next to construction can say, it isn’t
pleasant, so clearly Rosemary Place is an old-fashioned neighborly
street.
Let’s all hope that envy over the neighbors’ fabulous new house
doesn’t put an end to it.
