THE CALIFORNIA CHOREOGRAPHERS

DANCE FESTIVAL

Aims to present choreographic works to audiences free of charge in

nontraditional performance venues and challenges choreographers to

produce works that compel audiences to view and at times participate

in the performance. Information: (949) 497-8032.

THE CANYON CLUB

Holds Alcoholics Anonymous meetings on the hour from 6 a.m. to 10

p.m. daily with some Al-Anon meetings as well. Organizers aim to keep

the program simple and encourages participants to take the program

one day at a time. The club is at 20456 Laguna Canyon Road.

CHABAD OF LAGUNA JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER

Provides services on the weekends and runs a preschool during the

week in Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente. All activities at

COMMUNITY ART PROJECT

Community-based organization places public art in private

locations in Laguna Beach. Public meetings take place at 5 p.m. on

the third Monday of each month in Wells Fargo Bank, 220 Ocean Ave.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

PROGRAMS -- YOUTH SHELTER

Short-term program for at-risk teens. The goal of the

therapeutically-based program is to reunite teens with their

CROSSCULTURAL COUNCIL

Dedicated to helping neighbors bridge their cultural differences

in order to benefit the entire community. The Crosscultural Council

runs La Playa Center (ESL instruction with free child care) and the

Laguna Day Worker Center. Information: (949) 497-3936.

THE FRIENDS OF THE

LAGUNA BEACH LIBRARY

The group is responsible for funding the purchase of books for the

library as well as all the children/adult programs. The Friends Book

Shop is a large part of the fund-raising effort. The group needs

volunteers in order to expand the bookshop hours to include 3 to 6

FRIENDS OF THE SEA LION -- MARINE MAMMAL CENTER

Rescues, rehabilitates and releases sick and injured seals and sea

lions. Coverage area includes all beaches from San Onofre to Seal

Beach. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at 20612

Laguna Canyon Road.

FRIENDSHIP SHELTER, INC.

The only year-round emergency shelter for homeless adults in South

Orange County, its mission is to assist homeless adults in regaining

their self-esteem and self-reliance. The shelter has a structured and

IMAGINATION CELEBRATION

OF ORANGE COUNTY

Links artists and educators in an ongoing effort to recognize,

promote and present quality visual and performing arts programs that

inspire and challenge the imaginations of children, teens and

LAGUNA ART MUSEUM

The independent, more than 80-year-old, museum focuses on American

art, with emphasis on the art of California. The museum promotes an

understanding of the role of California art and artists in the

development of visual arts nationally and internationally.

LAGUNA CANYON CONSERVANCY

Membership organization promotes and preserves natural resources

and open space surrounding Laguna Beach. Information meetings spurred

by public participation take place on the first Monday of each month

at 6:30 p.m. at Tivoli Terrace from September through May.

LAGUNA CANYON FOUNDATION

Raises funds to increase awareness of South Coast Wilderness Parks

(Crystal Cove State Park, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, Aliso and

Wood Canyons Wilderness Park and open space in the cities of Irvine,

Laguna Beach and Laguna Woods). Its mission is to help complete

parkland acquisitions, preserve, protect and enhance 17,000 acres of

LAGUNA GREENBELT, INC.

Membership organization formed in 1968 to preserve Orange County’s

open space. Manages a volunteer program for Laguna Coast Wilderness

LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE

Laguna Beach is possibly the smallest U.S. city boasting a

nationally acclaimed professional resident theater -- and the West

Coast’s oldest, founded in 1920. Today, the Playhouse offers a

year-round schedule, award-winning Youth Theater and Theatereach, the

LAGUNA RELIEF

Serves the homeless and working poor of Laguna with free services,

such as a food bank, mentoring, life skills, clothing, sack lunches

9:30 a.m. at Heisler Park Monday through Friday for the Homeless. All

497-7121 for services available, appointments and donations. The

LAGUNA SHANTI

Provides comfort, courage and companionship to persons affected

with HIV, AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. Its mission is

to enhance each client’s quality of life by providing a wide array of
