ON THE AGENDA

Here are some of the items the council will consider.

CORONA DEL MAR CENTENNIAL

The Corona del Mar Centennial Committee will give a presentation

on how plans are coming along for the upcoming centennial

celebration. The presentation will take place during the council’s

study session, and will include information on some of the activities

and events being planned to mark the occasion.

WHAT TO EXPECT

There have been some rumblings over a sign that the committee

wants to erect announcing the upcoming centennial and calling the

public’s attention to some of the planned activities. Several ideas

on where to place the sign have caused a stir among people who say

it’s too big for some spots. Whether or not that will come up during

the study session, though, is not certain.

COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS

In their regular meeting, council members will consider a roster

of candidates to fill vacancies on a number of citizen committees,

including the General Plan Advisory Committee. The committee consults

city officials on changes it believes should be made to the city’s

general plan. The document, which is a sort of blueprint for city, is

undergoing its first overhaul in more than 20 years.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The appointment process usually takes more than one council

meeting, as council members consider and refine lists of candidates.

By the end the night, some posts will probably be filled and others

will have to wait.

CORONA DEL MAR BEACH IMPROVEMENTS

Some further refinements to the deal between the city and the

contractor overseeing improvements at Corona del Mar State Beach are

on the agenda tonight.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Council members in the past have worked to keep close tabs on the

money spent on this project, so it’s likely that the proposed

agreement will get close scrutiny.
