Accident stalls several, injures few
Two people suffered minor injuries in a six-car pileup that
snarled traffic on the San Diego Freeway on Thursday morning,
officials said.
The accident, which happened at about 8:45 a.m. on the southbound
San Diego Freeway, just south of the Costa Mesa Freeway, was a chain
reaction, a “domino effect” crash, California Highway Patrol Officer
Ken Yoon said.
“We don’t know yet exactly how it occurred, but most of them were
rear-end collisions,” he said.
A SigAlert was issued for 45 minutes, Yoon said.
“The traffic jam wasn’t too bad because it was the tail end of
rush hour,” he said.
The two people who were taken to the hospital did not suffer any
major injuries, Yoon said.
“Both complained of pain,” he said. “One of them even walked up to
the ambulance.”
