John Poole Mr. John Poole, longtime Corona...

John Poole

Mr. John Poole, longtime Corona del Mar resident and founder of

KBIG-AM and -FM stations, Los Angeles television Channel 22 and Mount

Palomar Winery in Temecula died on Thursday after a brief illness. He

was 86.

Mr. Poole is survived by his wife of 60 years, Olivia; sons Peter,

John and Mark; daughters Caroline Poole, Claudia Futa and Angela

Baldwin; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A public memorial service is expected to be in January in

Temecula.

The family requests that donations be sent to St. Luke’s House,

Inc., 6040 Southport Drive, Bethesda, MD 20814.

Rudy Chavira Jr.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday for Mr. Rudy

Chavira Jr., a 50-year Newport Beach resident. The service will be

held at Pacific View Chapel in Corona del Mar.

Mr. Chavira died on Dec. 23 of AIDS-related complications. He was

55.

Mr. Chavira is survived by his life partner Curt Martino; father

Rudy Chavira Sr., mother Alice Chavira and sisters Sylvia Brooks and

Betty Chavira.

Helen M. Kula

A memorial service is scheduled for Newport Beach resident Ms.

Helen M. Kula at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church

in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Ms. Kula died on Dec. 25 of cancer. She was 77.

Ms. Kula is survived by her son Kip Kula; daughters Cynthia Garvey

and Constance Armstrong; eight grandchildren and three great

grandchildren.
