Sandpiper cuts down Ganahl Lumber; holds on to first
Sandpiper collected its fifth league victory and moved above the .500
mark in the process by defeating Ganahl Lumber, 8-1, in city of
Laguna Beach Men’s Fall 16 Slow Pitch Softball League play at Riddle
Field.
The second game of a tripleheader saw Sandpiper slugger Dave
Sommerville single, double and triple.
Ryan Neptune added to the Sandpiper cause with a double and single
that produced a total of three runs.
Marc Judy carried the big bat for Ganahl Lumber. His two for three
performance included his team’s lone RBI.

Team Viagra 8, Good, Bad and Ugly 4
Bill Hustedt knocked in three runs as Team Viagra doubled up on
their league rival.
Gary Greene had two hits in three trips to the plate and accounted
for two RBI.
The hitting of rookie Mike Mastin and pitching of Fred Mastin
paced Good, Bad and Ugly.

The distance between first and last place in the league standings
was minute in this game, as league-leader Courtesy Auto Body held off
a fierce effort by winless the Solag Hamstrings.
Solag Hamstrings nearly pulled off the upset as Alex Carter went
three for three with a three-run home run and William Miniaci also
went three for three with two runs batted in.
Courtesy Auto Body countered with the hitting of Jeff Pich and
pitcher John Verdugo Sr.
Pich sent a soaring, two-run home run over the left field fence
and Verdugo Sr., in addition to his pitching effort, went three for
four with two RBI.
