View ordinance doesn’t solve problem
Melina Friedman
The view ordinance that the council approved on Oct. 21 is toothless,
ineffective and needlessly costly to those whose views are being
encroached upon.
In just two years since I have been in my home I have seen what
was once a vast view become more and more squeezed with each passing
season. The current ordinance grants me no feasible recourse.
It is wholly inappropriate that this issue has been actively
unresolved for a decade. There is no need to re-create the wheel.
View ordinances of other coastal towns should be seriously reviewed,
possibly modified and incorporated before another decade passes by
and views of the ocean are swallowed by the trees.
