HISTORY OF HITCHCOCK
Orange Coast College is offering a nine-part film history on
Alfred Hitchcock. The series will be moderated by retired OCC
professor H. Arthur Taussig. Each session will be held at 6:30 p.m.

LOUNGE CHAIR THEATRE
The Fairview Park Friends Committee of Costa Mesa will host its
first Lounge Chair Theatre at Fairview Park, at 6 p.m. Saturday. The
feature film will be “Shrek,” which is rated PG. The film shall be
shown on a large screen. The main feature will be preceded by a short
on Fairview Park. There will be pre-movie games for children provided
by the city’s Mobile Recreation Van. Attendees are encouraged to
bring their own blankets, folding chair, jackets, pillows and

‘THE BLACK ROSE’
The Exchange Club of Newport Harbor will present Dinner and the
Movies starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23. The evening will
begin with a food festival by a dozen Newport area restaurants and at
7:30 p.m., the of the classic film the “The Black Rose” will be
screened at the Lido Theater. Charitable contributions of only $40
per ticket may be made payable to the Exchange Club Charitable

KENNEDY LECTURE
Sen. Edward M. Kennedy will deliver the 2003-04 Peltason Lecture
on Democracy at UCI’s Crystal Cove Auditorium on Oct. 24. Doors open
at 5 p.m. and the lecture titled “Health Policy and Economic
Security” begins at 6 p.m. Seating is on a first come first serve

CATTLE BARON’S BALL
The Cattle Baron’s Ball will be held at the Orange County Fair and
Exposition Center at 7 p.m. Oct. 25. The event will feature live and
silent auctions for items such as the voice of Lily Tomlin’s
“Ernestine” character to be used on your answering machine. Proceeds
of from the event will help fund research grants and educational

NEWPORT HARBOR CHRISTMAS BOAT PARADE
Beautifully decorated yachts, boats, kayaks and canoes will sail
along the harbor in the 95th annual Newport Harbor Christmas Boat
Parade Dec. 17 through 21. Each night, the parade will begin at 6:30
p.m. at Collins Island and last two and a half hours. The parade is
hosted by the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of

JAPANESE DRUMMING
The Philharmonic Society of Orange County will present Yamato, an

for Violin and Orchestra. The orchestra will also perform Respighi’s
Ancient Airs and Dances and Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 in D major, the
